The United Kingdom (includes Northern Ireland) now requires visitors to apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization).

The easiest way to apply is on the app and it it should only take 10 minutes. The app is available for iPhone and Android phones.

To apply on the app you will need:

  • to take a photo of yourself – if you’re applying for someone else, they must be with you
  • the passport you will use to travel to the UK
  • a credit card, debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay

Introduction Dates: Non-Europeans will need an ETA to travel from 8 January 2025, and Europeans from 2 April 202

Cost: An ETA costs £10 and is valid for two years or until the passport expires, allowing multiple trips for up to six months at a time.

Who Needs It: Visitors who do not already have a UK immigration status or do not need a visa for short stays will require an ETA. Visitors coming to the UK, including Northern Ireland, for tourism, visiting family and friends, attending sporting or cultural events; for business trips and study as a visitor.
