Day 1: Friday, June 14, 2024: Depart from the USA
We will depart from Chattanooga on our overnight flights to Manchester. (IF)
Day 2: Saturday, June 15, 2024: Manchester, Leeds
Upon arrival in Manchester, we will have coffee in the airport, then drive to the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. In the afternoon, we will walk to Ryland’s Library and Manchester Art Museum. We will load the coach in the early afternoon and drive to Leeds. After we check in at Radisson Blu, we will dine together in our hotel. (D)
Day 3: Sunday, June 16, 2024: Leeds
After breakfast we will walk to morning service at St. George’s Church in Leeds. After the service we will have coffee and tea with congregation members. After changing clothes at the hotel we’ll regroup and head to Kirkstall Abbey. Before we reach the Abbey, we’ll stop at Morrison’s and get meal deals and have a picnic lunch on the grounds of the Abbey. After touring the Abbey we’ll return to the hotel and then take the bus to the home of Angie and Phil and have food and fellowship with parishioners from St. George’s church. (B/D)
Day 4: Monday, June 17, 2024: Leeds
We’ll spend the morning at the Thackray Medical Museum and then spend the afternoon at Ripley Castle and Gardens, followed by the great British tradition of afternoon tea in Betty’s, Harrogate. Free evening in Leeds. (B/AT)
Day 5: Tuesday, June 18, 2024: Leeds
Today, we’ll take a break from urban life and venture into the Yorkshire dales for a hike through the English countryside. This is a substantial hike so wear hiking shoes/boots, pack snacks, a picnic lunch, and be prepared to walk several miles. Free evening in Leeds. (B)
Day 6: Wednesday, June 19, 2024: Leeds
Today we’ll go by train to York from Leeds and explore the cathedral, York Minster, climb the tower, and tour the medieval city. Free evening in Leeds. (B)
Day 7: Thursday, June 20, 2024: Liverpool, Leeds
Today we will travel to Liverpool and explore the history of British music (The Beatles!). We’ll return to Leeds for a free evening. (B)
Day 8: Friday, June 21, 2024: Oxford
We’ll depart Leeds fairly early and arrive in Oxford and drop our luggage at the hotel and then go for lunch followed by a tour of the Science and Natural History museums. After checking in and getting settled in the hotel, we’ll gather and walk to Cherwell Boathouse for dinner together. (B/D)
Day 9: Saturday, June 22, 2024: Oxford
This morning we will take a walking tour focused on the Reformation, John Wesley, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien. we’ll take a medicine and science themed walking tour of Oxford. After lunch and a free afternoon, we’ll attend Evensong at Christ Church, Oxford. (B)
Day 10: Sunday, June 23, 2024: London
This morning we will depart Oxford and attend church at St. Marks, Engelfield. The parishioners are looking forward to our visit and will have a time of food and fellowship with us before the service. After church, we’ll have a traditional “Sunday Roast” lunch at the Spring Inn. We will tour Hampton Court, then continue on to London. After we get settled in the hotel, we’ll take a short ride on the tube to Leicester Square. (B/L)
Day 11: Monday, June 24, 2024: London
Today we’ll start the day with a tour of the Tower of London, then break for lunch in Trafalgar Square. We will explore the National Gallery of Art. We’ll gather to eat dinner at Bella Italia near the Agatha Christie memorial before going to see London’s longest running play, Agatha Christie’s Mousetrap. (B/D)
Day 12: Tuesday, June 25, 2024: London
This morning we’ll head out for a full day of touring in London with Christian Heritage. We’ll start at the British Museum, break for lunch and continue on a walking tour highlighting key churches and religious figures in London’s long history as a major Christian city. We’ll meet up again in the evening for a concert in St. Martin’s in the Fields. B)
Day 13: Wednesday, June 26, 2024: London

Day 14: Thursday, June 27, 2024: London
Today we’ll start the day with a tour of the Old Operating Theatre Museum and Herb Garret, followed by free to buy lunch in the Borough Market. We will then walk to the Florence Nightingale Museum. We’ll then ride the London Eye and conclude the tour with Evensong at St. Paul’s Cathedral. The final evening is at leisure. (B)
Day 15: Friday, June 28, 2024: London
We bid farewell to England today as we transfer to the airport for our return flight. (B)
