You are invited to join Becky McGarrity and Kate Hoerner from Belleville East High School on a 10-day tour of England and France, with the option of 3 additional days in Germany and Austria. This tour is designed for students, but family and friends are welcome. Space is limited to 35 participants.

Day 1: Thursday, May 30, 2019: Departure
We will depart from St. Louis on our overnight flights to London, England. (IF)
Day 2: Friday, May 31, 2019: Arrival in London
When we land in London Heathrow, we will board our air-conditioned bus and have an orientation tour of London on the way to the Millennium Gloucester Hotel with a step-on guide. This afternoon there is an off-road guided bike tour through some of London’s most famous parks, including Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. Bikes, and helmets are provided. Tonight’s meal is in Covent Garden. (B/D)
Day 3: Saturday, June 1, 2019: London
We will begin our day with a Beefeater tour of the Tower of London. This historic palace was built by William the Conqueror after his invasion in 1066. Our tour will include the magnificent crown jewels. We will then visit St. Paul’s, a magnificent church designed by Sir Christopher Wren. The energetic members of the group can climb the dome for incredible views of London. The afternoon is at leisure, with some guided options available. We will meet up again for a meal in the West End Theater district, before attending a performance of Les Mis. (B/D)
Day 4: Sunday, June 2, 2019: London, Windsor, Portsmouth
Before we leave London, we will explore the secret headquarters of ‘the greatest Briton’, Sir Winston Churchill. The museum includes the underground nucleus of Britain’s war effort and an exhibition about all ninety years of Winston Churchill’s life. We will then tour Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. It has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost a thousand years. Our tour will also include St. George’s Chapel and the State Apartments. We will then drive to Portsmouth and board our overnight ferry to France. The ferry has restaurants on board. (B)
Day 5: Monday, June 3, 2019: St. Malo, Mont St. Michel, Caen
We will land in St. Malo early in the morning and our Tour Director will welcome us to France. We will have a tour of St. Malo, once a stronghold for privateers (pirates approved by the king). A magical island topped by a gravity-defying medieval monastery, the Mont. St. Michel counts among France’s most stunning sights. We will check in to the Campanile Caen Nord Hotel and dine in our hotel. (B/D)
Day 6: Tuesday, June 4, 2019: Normandy Beaches
Our full-day tour of the Normandy Beaches will include entry to the Caen Memorial and the Utah Beach Museum. We will also visit Colleville-sur-Mer, Arromanches, and Omaha Beach. As the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings is on June 6, there will be some special events happening. It will be crowded, so the itinerary is flexible. The evening is free to explore Caen. (B)
Day 7: Wednesday, June 5, 2019: Giverny, Versailles, Paris
On the way to Paris, we will tour Monet’s home and gardens in Giverny, where he painted his famed water lily series. Our next highlight is a tour of the magnificent palace of Versailles, home of French royalty, including the ‘Sun King’, Louis XIV. After time to tour the gardens, we will check-in to our hotel. (B/D)
Day 8: Thursday, June 6, 2019: Paris
The Musée d’Orsay, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. After viewing the paintings, we will have a 2-hour bike tour of Paris. The afternoon is at leisure. (B)
Day 9: Friday, June 7, 2019: Paris
Our day will begin with a visit to Notre Dame, the medieval cathedral by the River Seine. We will then take a half-day cooking class. Adults will create a starter and main course, and learn about French wine from an expert sommelier. The students will create dessert, then we will dine together. We will then enjoy stunning views of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower, following by an evening cruise on the Seine. (B/L)
Day 10: Saturday, June 8, 2019: Return
Those on the main tour will transfer to Charles de Gaulle Airport this morning. Please note that that Becky and Kate (the hosts) will be doing the extension and won’t be accompanying travelers home today. (B)
Day 10: Saturday, June 8, 2019: Paris, Munich
We will take the TGV train from Paris to TGV to Munich in 1st class seats, then transfer to the hotel. Our afternoon walking tour will include the Olympic Stadium, Nymphenburg Castle, the New and Old Pinakothek, Deutsches Museum and take a walk to Frauenkirche, the New City Hall, Marienplatz and the famous “Glockenspiel.” (B/D)
Day 11: Sunday, June 9, 2019: Salzburg
We will head to Austria today to explore the breathtaking landscapes that made the Sound of Music movie famous, as our guided tour takes us to locations that served as impressive backdrops to one of the world’s most-loved films. We will also visit some sites related to Salzburg’s most famous resident, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, including the Mozarteum, one of the best music schools in the world and the house where he was born in 1756. We will have some free time to explore Salzburg before returning to our hotel in Munich. (B/D)
Day 12: Monday, June 10, 2019: Neuschwanstein, Munich
We will start the day at Dachau, to gain a deeper understanding of the effects of the Holocaust. We will then drive to Neuschwanstein, one of the most photographed castles in Europe. It was the home of the reclusive King Ludwig II of Bavaria. We will tour the castle, then return to Munich. Tonight, we will celebrate the conclusion of our tour with a traditional meal at the original Hofbrauhaus. (B/D)
Day 13: Monday, June 11, 2019: Return
We will transfer to Munich Airport for our flights back to St. Louis. (B)

This will be automatically added to your invoice. Insurance to cover the land and air cost will be approximately $147 per person.
Regardless of reason, cancellations are costly. To offset these costs the following fees will apply, plus any non-recoverable expenses to our suppliers:
From time of deposit to until 100 days before departure: $100
From 99-15 days prior to departure: $350 plus any non refundable deposits
14 days or less prior to departure: No refund– Cancellation charges also apply to additional accommodation reserved prior to and after the tour.
– Cancellations must be received in writing by 5:00 p.m. central time on the last business day of the applicable time period.
– For flight changes or cancellations, revision fees and/or airline cancellation charges will apply.
– Roommates canceling can result in a single supplement charge for the roommate. The Participant who cancels will be responsible for that charge if a substitute roommate cannot be found.
– Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance is strongly recommended.
