You are invited to see the key sites related to Martin Luther on a relaxed 10-day Reformation Heritage tour from Berlin to Munich. Pre-tour nights can be arranged in Berlin. As well as key Reformation sites, fellowship opportunities are available during the tour, including a private communion service in Erfurt. The tour includes Castles, Gardens, World War II history, as well as the opportunity to spend time with Germans in Ulm.

Day 1: Monday, June 9, 2025: Depart
We will depart from the USA on our transatlantic overnight flights to Berlin. Pre-tour travel can be arranged through Reformation Tours. (IF)
Day 2: Tuesday, June 10, 2025: Arrival in Berlin, Wittenberg
When we arrive in Berlin, we will meet our tour director, then pick-up early arrivals at the Berlin hotel. We will start our Reformation Tour with a panoramic sightseeing tour of the reunified German capital, highlighting the Reichstag (parliament building), the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, the refurbished city center, Gendarmenmarktand the Berlin Cathedral. We will continue to Wittenberg and end the day with our welcome meal at the hotel. ( IF/D)
Day 3: Wednesday, June 11, 2025: Wittenberg
After a relaxing breakfast, we will have a walking tour of Wittenberg. It was here in 1517 that Martin Luther nailed his famous 95 Theses to the door of Castle Church (Schlosskirche). Although the original doors were destroyed in the Seven Years War, we can see Luther’s texts cast in bronze on the new doors. We will see St. Mary’s Church, where Luther regularly preached. The International Luther Center is housed in the Old Latin School next door, and we will have worship service there hear about the LCMS work in Germany. Luther’s former home is now a Reformation Museum. Although currently closed, we will visit the exhibition in the Augusteum. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B)
Day 4: Thursday, June 12, 2025: Erfurt, Eisenach
We’ll drive to Erfurt and have free time for lunch. Our walking tour will include viewing St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Severin’s Church, and the famous Merchant’s Bridge. During our tour of the Augustinian Monastery where Luther became a monk on July 17, 1505, we will see his monastic quarters, including one cell furnished to look as it would have when he lived there. At the end of the tour, we will have a group time in the chapel. We will check-in to our hotel in Eisenach and dine in our hotel. (B/D)
Day 5: Friday, June 13, 2025: Eisenach, Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber
While Luther was fleeing from the wrath of the Pope, he took refuge in the Wartburg Castle after a fake kidnapping staged by his friend and protector, Frederick the Wise. We will tour the Wartburg and see where Luther finished translating the New Testament into German in just eleven weeks. In the afternoon we will drive down to Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber. This charming town has retained its medieval character, and we can enjoy the Nightwatchman’s Tour after an early dinner. (B/D)
Day 6: Saturday, June 14, 2025: Blautopf, Ulm
We will have some free time to explore Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber. On the way to Ulm, we will visit a stunning spring, called Blautopt (Blue pot). The river Blau flows into the Danube in Ulm, but due to high water pressure, the spring has created a deep pool with an intense blue color. We will continue on to Ulm, where we will dine in a Bavarian-style restaurant with local guests. (B/D)
Day 7: Sunday, June 15, 2025: Augsburg, Ulm
This morning we will attend Sunday worship and enjoy fellowship with German believers. After lunch we will have an afternoon tour of Augsburg, including St. Anne’s Church, where Luther and Cajetan met in 1518. We will also see the Fuggerei, which was built for needy citizens. The evening is at leisure. (B/L)
Day 8: Monday, June 16, 2025: Constance
We will head south today to the scenic Lake Constance and visit the Island of Mainau. This small island is home to millions of flowers, ands a magnificent castle. We will overnight in Constance, where Jan Hus was tried and martyred. We will dine together this evening. (B/D)
Day 9: Tuesday, June 17, 2025: Bavarian Castles, Munich
Our drive this morning will give us excellent views of the Alps. We will have an early afternoon tour of Neuschwanstein Castle, then end the day in Munich. We will finish the tour with dinner at the famous Hofbrauhaus. (B/D)
Day 10: Wednesday, June 18, 2025: Return
We will return to the USA today or continue our travels in Europe. (B)

Once the tour is a guaranteed departure our air team can assist you with booking flights and transfers. If you have booked your own flights, we can still provide transfers, as long as we have your flight details on file and a phone number to give to the driver. We will include your transfer information in your final packet. Transfers will be arranged for each arrival, so that you won’t have to wait for other tour members if their flight is delayed. Transfers can be arranged for the day of your choosing, but we can’t arrange transfers if you arrive or depart by train.
Please note that individual transfers are booked through a third-party and you will be responsible to communicate with the company in case of delays.

There are two levels of insurance offered. Click here to compare. When you fill out the registration form, you will be given quotes for both.
Standard is 4.55% of the trip cost and can be purchased up until 2 days prior to departure, although we recommend purchasing it before.
Enhanced is 7.6% of the trip cost and includes cancel for any reason benefits. It has to be purchased within 14 days of registration.
Regardless of reason, cancellations are costly, so we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance:

Cancellations must be received in writing by 5:00 p.m. central time on the last business day of the applicable time period. For flight changes or cancellations, revision fees and/or airline cancellation charges will apply. Roommates canceling can result in a single supplement charge for the roommate. The Participant who cancels will be responsible for that charge if a substitute roommate cannot be found. Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance is strongly recommended. Reformation Tours cannot assume responsibility for any additional costs or fees relating to the issuance and/or cancellation of air tickets or other arrangements not made through Reformation Tours.
