Day 1: Friday, September 20, 2019: Flight
We will fly from the US to Manchester.
Day 2: Saturday, September 21, 2019: Arrival in Manchester
On arrival in Manchester, we will have a group transfer to our centrally-located hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. (IF)
Day 3: Sunday, September 22, 2019: Anglesey
After breakfast we will meet our driver and guide will meet us and we will board our bus. We will cross the border into Wales and continue on to the Island of Anglesey. Known as the “Mother of Wales, Anglesey is connected to the North Wales coast by two bridges. The island features long stretches of stunning coastline. In the afternoon, we will tour the stunning Beaumaris Castle. Our hotel in Wales is the striking Château Rhianfa, a Grade II listed building with Gothic architecture and a modern twist. We will dine in our hotel this evening. (B/D)
Day 4: Monday, September 23, 2019: Snowdonia, Anglesey
After breakfast, we will take a trip on the scenic Snowdon Mountain Railway, which will take us up to the peak of the highest mountain in England and Wales, Mt. Snowdon. In the afternoon, we will tour the National Slate Museum and learn about Wales’ Industrial past. This evening we will spend with a local host, who will cook a delicious meal using the best local produce. We’ll really gain an insider’s knowledge of life in Wales. (B/D)
Day 5: Tuesday, September 24, 2019: Conwy, Betws-Y-Coed
We will begin our day with a visit to Conwy, one of Europe’s finest surviving medieval towns, known for its castle. We will tour the magnificent castle which was designed by King Edward I’s master castle builder James of St. George. Lunch today will be in the Bodnant Welsh Food Center, showcasing the best fresh local produce and crafts. In the afternoon, we will visit picturesque Betws-Y-Coed, nestled in the heart of Snowdonia. We can stroll around this traditional Welsh village, before returning to our hotel. (B/L)
Day 6: Wednesday, September 25, 2019: Settle, Carlisle
We will drive to Settle this morning and have free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we will board the Settle-Carlisle train, while our driver takes our bags to the hotel. Running through some of the most attractive scenery in the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbrian Fells, the Settle-Carlisle railway is world-famous for its Victorian architecture, huge stone viaducts, long tunnels and remote wayside station buildings. Our bus will pick us up at the station and take us to the Halston Hotel in Carlisle. We will dine in a local restaurant this evening. (B/D)
Day 7: Thursday, September 26, 2019: Solway Estuary, Carlisle
We will have a unique day today, led by local historian and guide, Fiona Stoddart. She will take us on a full-day excursion into the Solway estuary, telling us about how the unique landscape was formed and changed by significant events. We will hear about the flora and fauna that inhabit the coastal stretches, and see the salt marshes and inshore wetlands. This area has seen Vikings, Romans, medieval knights, Scottish and English kings, and we will hear their stories, as well as tales of smugglers and star-crossed lovers. We will dine in Carlisle this evening. (B/D)
Day 8: Friday, September 27, 2019: Hadrian’s Wall, Carlisle
This area is very close to the Scottish border, so we will visit Birdoswald Roman Fort this morning, and see part of Hadrian’s Wall. The longest remaining stretch of the Wall spans as far as our eye can see. This incredible feat of Roman engineering has dominated the landscape since AD 122. We will return to Carlisle and have a free afternoon to explore this delightful Cambrian city. We will dine together this evening. (B/D)
Day 9: Saturday, September 28, 2019: Edinburgh
We will take a leisurely drive across the Scottish border to Edinburgh. In the afternoon, we will tour the Royal Palace of Holyrood, the Queen’s official residence in Edinburgh and the home of Scottish royal history. We will be able to visit Mary, Queen of Scots’ chambers where she lived between 1561-1567. The gardens are also delightful. We will spend our final two nights in the No. 11 Edinburgh Hotel in the New Town district of town, full of beautiful Georgian architecture. (B/D)
Day 10: Sunday, September 29, 2019: Edinburgh
This morning we will have the opportunity to worship in one of the many churches in Edinburgh. In the afternoon, we will have a walking tour of the city highlights including Edinburgh Castle, St. Giles Cathedral and the Royal Mile. Our farewell meal will be in our hotel this evening. (B/D)
Day 11: Monday, September 30, 2019: Return
After breakfast, we will transfer to Edinburgh Airport for our return flights home. (B)

Regardless of reason, cancellations are costly. To offset these costs the following fees will apply, plus any non-recoverable expenses to our suppliers:
From time of deposit to until 100 days before departure: $100 cancellation penalty
From 99-15 days prior to departure: $350 cancellation penalty plus any non refundable deposits
14 days or less prior to departure: No refund– Cancellation charges also apply to additional accommodation reserved prior to and after the tour.
– Cancellations must be received in writing by 5:00 p.m. central time on the last business day of the applicable time period.
– For flight changes or cancellations, revision fees and/or airline cancellation charges will apply.
– Roommates canceling can result in a single supplement charge for the roommate. The Participant who cancels will be responsible for that charge if a substitute roommate cannot be found.
– Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance is strongly recommended.
