The movie version of Downton Abbey has been released on both sides of the Atlantic. We have custom designed a unique itinerary including the key filming locations from the movie, including Highclere Castle. We will begin the tour in Edinburgh, then travel down to stunning Alnwick Castle (Brancaster Castle). Many of the street scenes were filmed in the Beamish Open Air Museum, including Branson’s garage and Mr. Bakewell’s Store.
From York we will have a day trip on the North York Moors Railway (opening sequence of movie) including lunch. Harewood House was home to Princess Mary (the Queen’s aunt) and we will tour the house and gardens. The ballroom scene was filmed in Wentworth Woodhouse, an elegant country house with the longest facade in England. While in the Cotswolds, we will visit Bampton, which was used for filming Downton Village, Cogges Manor Farm (Yew Tree Farm), and the village of Lacock (street parade). The tour ends in London, with a Downton-themed sightseeing tour.
