This private tour led by Professor Randy Wood is for students from Lee University, focusing on various aspects of western culture including art, literature, history, music, and philosophy. The trip includes the opportunity to hear from expert guides who will share their perspectives on British history.
Tour director Rowena Drinkhouse will introduce the group to many of her Christian friends in the UK. From a church picnic, Afternoon Tea in a stately home, a concert in a medieval hall, to a photo opportunity in the Shard, this trip will be a fascinating introduction to Britain.

Day 1: Friday, July 12, 2019: Depart from the USA
We will depart from Atlanta on a direct overnight flight to Manchester. (IF)
Day 2: Saturday, July 13, 2019: Manchester
On arrival in Manchester, England, we will meet our tour director, Rowena Drinkhouse and board our bus. We will transfer for the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. After free time for lunch, we will walk to the Manchester art gallery. We’ll dine in a restaurant close to our hotel in Manchester. (IF/D)
Day 3: Sunday, July 14, 2019: Leeds
After breakfast we will drive to Leeds and attend the morning service at St. George’s Church. We will join the church picnic at Kirkstall Abbey after picking up picnic food on the way. The afternoon will be at leisure. We will have the option to attend the evening fellowship time at St. George’s. (B)
Day 4: Monday, July 15, 2019: Leeds
We will begin with a tour of the Crypt Ministry at St. George’s which has served the homeless for more than 80 years. We will then drive to nearby Harewood House where we will have a group lunch, then tour the house and gardens. We will return to Leeds and join the English-language class at St. George’s and chat to refugees and immigrants who want to practice their English. (B/L)
Day 5: Tuesday, July 16, 2019: York, Leeds
We will have a day trip to nearby York, a city with rich Viking and Roman history. We will see the historic street, the Shambles, as well as York Minster and the city walls. The afternoon will be free to explore local museums or relax. (B)
Day 6: Wednesday, July 17, 2019: Epworth, Worksop, Pilgrim Roots
Our tour guide Adrian Gray from Pilgrim and Prophets will take us on a tour of sites in Lincolnshire and Nottingham region, beginning with Worksop Priory. Many of the Pilgrims who sailed on the Mayflower in 1620 came from this area and we’ll visit Babworth Church to learn more about their reasons for fleeing England. We will have lunch in the Red Lion in Epworth and hear more about John and Charles Wesley and their family. We’ll then check in to our hotel, followed by a chamber concert in medieval Gainsborough Old Hall. (B/L)
Day 7: Thursday, July 18, 2019: Lincoln
In the morning we will tour Lincoln Castle, including the Magna Carta exhibition and the Victorian prison. In the afternoon we will visit Lincoln Cathedral and attend Evensong. The evening will be at leisure. (B)
Day 8: Friday, July 19, 2019: Cambridge, Oxford
Today we will visit the UK’s most iconic University towns, beginning with Cambridge. Joshua Kellard from the Round Church will give us a guided tour and discuss Cambridge’s Reformation history. We will then drive to Oxford and check-in to our hotel. We will dine in the Eagle and Child Pub, a favorite of C.S. Lewis and the Inklings. (B/D)
Day 9: Saturday, July 20, 2019: Oxford
This morning local guide James Grieg will takes us on a walking tour focused on Christian heritage. In the afternoon Professor Wood will discuss the architecture of Oxford. The rest of the day will be at leisure to explore the many museums of Oxford. (B)
Day 10: Sunday, July 21: 2019: Englefield, London
On the way to London we will attend morning church service at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, followed by a traditional Sunday roast lunch. After checking in to our hotel in Kensington we will attend the 20-30s group at Holy Trinity Brompton Church. (B/L)
Day 11: Monday, July 22, 2019: London
Ben Virgo from Christian Heritage London will take us on a tour of the British Museum this morning where we will see many Biblical artifacts. After time to purchase lunch, we will tour the British Library, which houses treasures including the Lindisfarne Gospels, the Magna Carta, Jane Austen’s notebooks, Handel’s Messiah and so much more. We’ll end the day with Evensong at St. Paul’s Cathedral, then the evening will be at leisure. (B)
Day 12: Tuesday, July 23, 2019: London
We will join Blue Badge guide Sue Weir on a medical history walking tour of London including the Old Operating Theater & Herb Garrett and the Florence Nightingale Museum. In the afternoon we will visit art galleries including the Tate Modern and the National Gallery. We will dine early and attend a West End play. (B/D)
Day 13: Wednesday, July 24, 2019: London
Today we will have the option to design our own day, using the London Pass which includes entrance to 80+ sites including the Churchill War Rooms, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, a Thames Cruise, Kensington Palace, Hampton Court, the Globe, Charles Dickens’ home, etc. We will meet up at the top of the Shard for a photo op with stunning views of London, then end the tour with pizza on the Southbank. Day 14: Thursday, July 25, 2019: Return
We will transfer to Heathrow for the return direct flight from London to Atlanta. (B)

From 99-15 days prior to departure: $350 plus any non refundable deposits
14 days or less prior to departure: No refund– Cancellation charges also apply to additional accommodation reserved prior to and after the tour.
– Cancellations must be received in writing by 5:00 p.m. central time on the last business day of the applicable time period.
– For flight changes or cancellations, revision fees and/or airline cancellation charges will apply.
– Roommates canceling can result in a single supplement charge for the roommate. The Participant who cancels will be responsible for that charge if a substitute roommate cannot be found.
– Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance is strongly recommended.
