Kay Saffari founded Tours with Purpose to offer meaningful trips that include either a religious/spiritual theme or a service project accessible to all. Kay lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband, Behnam. In addition to her travel business, Kay teaches Spanish at Georgetown College and serves as an interpreter for Kentucky Refugee Ministries. In her free time Kay enjoys writing, hiking, and spending time with friends and family, including children Cyrus and Susie.
Dr. Robert (Bob) Baker is a Cooperative Baptist minister from Lexington, Kentucky with more than 40 years of experience as a pastor, including 27 years at Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington. Since retiring in 2019, Bob has enjoyed spending time with wife Debbie, his three children and five grandchildren. He is currently serving as interim pastor of St. Matthews Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

Day 1: Friday, May 13, 2022: Depart
We will depart from the USA today and Reformation Tours can assist with group (10+) or individual bookings. Pre-tour nights are also available in Leiden and are recommended for anyone traveling from the West Coast. Early arrivals are invited to a group dinner this evening. (IF)
Day 2: Saturday, May 14, 2022: Arrival in Amsterdam, Leiden
On arrival in Amsterdam, we will transfer to Leiden, a delightful Dutch city. The Separatists fled persecution in England and lived in Leiden for 12 years before they sailed to England and boarded the Mayflower in 1621. Leiden was also a center for Bible publishing. We will have a group meal together this evening. (B/D)
Day 3: Sunday, May 15, 2022: The Hague, Keukenhof, Leiden
We will have the opportunity to attend an English-speaking church service in The Hague and meet local believers. In the afternoon we will visit the Keukenhof Gardens, including the Orchid House, the Japanese Garden and the 19th century windmill on the edge of the Tulip fields. We will have a group meal in a restaurant this evening. (B/D)
Day 4: Monday, May 16, 2022: Amsterdam
In the morning we will have an orientation tour of Amsterdam, including a boat ride on the canals. The afternoon is at leisure to explore independently. The next few days will be spent on the MS Symphonie. We will board our ship at 6:00 PM. After comfortably settling into our cabins, we’ll meet the tour hosts and crew at the welcome event. (B/D)
Day 5: Tuesday, May 17, 2022: Amsterdam
The morning is at leisure to explore the beautiful city or see the stunning paintings in the Rijksmuseum, the home of the Dutch Masters. In the afternoon we can visit Corrie Ten Boom’s home in Haarlem (subject to availability). Corrie and her family assisted hundreds of Jews during the Holocaust. After surviving Ravensbrück Concentration Camp, she preached in more than 60 countries about the Lord’s faithfulness. We will dine on our ship this evening. (B/L/D)
Day 6: Wednesday, May 18, 2022: Arnhem, Cologne
The ship will dock at Emmerich-am-Rhine this morning and we will tour the open-air living history museum in Arnhem. This national museum focused on the everyday life of Dutch people throughout the country’s history and includes old homes, farms, and factories from different regions. We’ll rejoin the ship in Xanten and the afternoon will be spent cruising towards Cologne. (B/L/D)
Day 7: Thursday, May 19, 2022: Cologne, Koblenz
We will arrive in Cologne in the morning and have a tour of the city including the magnificent cathedral. We will also explore the Old Town area. The ship will sail to Koblenz during the night. (B/L/D)
Day 8: Friday, May 20, 2022: Mainz
This morning will be spent cruising towards Mainz. In the afternoon we will have a guided tour of the Gutenberg Museum. Johann Gutenberg’s development of movable type enabled the work of Luther, Zwingli, Calvin and other reformers to spread quickly. The museum houses three extremely rare and valuable Gutenberg original 42-line Bibles. We will also tour the magnificent cathedral and explore the Old City. (B/L/D)
Day 9: Saturday, May 21, 2022: Strasbourg
We will then travel into France to visit Strasbourg, referred to as the “City of Hope” and “Refuge of the Righteous” by the Anabaptists. This is where John Calvin wrote his famous books on systematic theology and where Martin Bucer, another Reformation leader, helped bring in the Reformation. Our morning walking tour will include La Petite France and the cathedral. We will also have a canal boat trip to see the sites from the river. Tonight is our gala dinner and evening. (B/L/D)
Day 10: Sunday, May 22, 2022: Breisach, Colmar, Basel
After breakfast we will visit Breisach and tour St. Stephen Cathedral. In the afternoon we will have a guided tour of Colmar, a colorful city bursting with Alsatian charm. We’ll spend time in the romantic Little Venice neighborhood before visiting the Unterlinden Museum. The museum exhibits span 7,000 years from prehistoric times to modern art. We will have evening entertainment on the ship. (B/L/D)
Day 11: Monday, May 23, 2022: Return
We will disembark early transfer to Basel Airport for our return flight/s to the USA (B)

We will disembark early and drive through Switzerland to Geneva. In the afternoon we will tour Reformation sites with a Reformation expert. Our walking tour will include the Reformation Wall, St. Peter’s Cathedral, Bourg-de-Four Square, the Auditoire de Calvin. The Reformation Museum is currently being refurbished. We will end the tour with a Swiss meal in the Café Papon in the Grande Grotte dining room. For convenience, the final hotel will be close to the airport. (B/D)
Day 12: Tuesday, May 24, 2022: Return
We will return home today from Geneva. (B)

Transfers can be arranged for the day of your choosing, but we can’t arrange transfers if you arrive or depart by train.

Regardless of reason, cancellations are costly. All cancellations must be in writing and the date of postmark will determine the amount of refund due. For flight changes or cancellations, revision fees and/or airline cancellation charges will apply. Roommates canceling can result in a single supplement charge for the roommate. The Participant who cancels will be responsible for that charge if a substitute roommate cannot be found. Cancellation and Interruption Insurance is strongly recommended.

From May 2, 2021 to April 30, 2022: $1,000 cancellation penalty plus any non-refundable deposits
