The Omaha to Oberammergau Tour is a private tour of Austria and Germany hosted by Pastor Brad and Heidi Meyer. The main focus of this tour is to witness the Passion Play performed in Oberammergau. Other highlights of the tour will include: touring Imperial palaces in Vienna, visiting the Melk Abbey, listening to a Mozart dinner concert in Salzburg, taking the “Sound of Music Tour”, hiking through the gorge at Leutascher Geisterklamm, viewing handcrafted woodcarvings in Oberammergau, walking around the gardens on the Island of Mainau, printing the 23rd psalm using a Gutenberg press at the Bible Museum in Meersburg, touring the Mercedes Benz Museum, joining the Nightwatchman Tour in Rothenburg, and walking in the footsteps of Martin Luther at Wartburg Castle where he was in exile, the Augustinian Monastery where he was a priest, and Wittenberg Lutherstadt where he taught and he and Katie raised their family.

Day 1: Sunday, July 5, 2020: Fly
We will depart from Omaha this afternoon for our overnight journey to Vienna. (IF)
Day 2: Monday, July 6, 2020: Vienna
Welcome to Austria! On arrival in Vienna, travelers will transfer to the Hotel Kaiserhof. After time to explore, purchase lunch, and shop, we will gather back at the hotel to begin the tour (time will be confirmed once we know all the flight arrival times.) In the afternoon we will tour Schönbrunn Palace, a former imperial summer residence. We will dine in our hotel in Vienna this evening. (B/D)
Day 3: Tuesday, July 7, 2020: Vienna
We will have a morning tour of Old Vienna, including St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg Palace. The rest of the day will be at leisure. (B)
Day 4: Wednesday, July 8, 2020: Melk Abby, Salzburg
After breakfast, we will board our coach and drive to Melk to visit the Abbey. We will end the day in Salzburg with a Mozart Dinner concert. (B/D)
Day 5: Thursday, July 9, 2020: Salzburg
This morning we will have a “Sound of Music” tour, driving by some of the locations used in this classic film. In the afternoon our tour will include Mozart’s birthplace, Mirabell Gardens, Salzburg Cathedral, the Getreidegasse shopping area, and the market area. (B/D)
Day 6: Friday, July 10, 2020: Mittenwald, Innsbruck
We will travel into Germany today and we’ll have lunch in the Mittenwald brewery. In the afternoon we will have free time in Mittenwald with the option to tour the violin museum (additional cost). We will then continue on to Innsbruck where we will dine in our hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 7: Saturday, July 11, 2020: Innsbruck, Oberammergau
We will have a bus orientation tour of Innsbruck this morning, then we’ll continue on to Oberammergau. We will see a wood-working demonstration in the Pilatus House, followed by time to explore and shop in the town. In the afternoon we will check in to our hotel in the Oberammergau region. (B/D)
Day 8: Sunday, July 12, 2020: Oberammergau Passion Play
After a relaxed morning, we will return to Oberammergau, where we will eat lunch together. The seven-hour performance of the Passion Play is truly a moving experience as we witness the passion of Jesus, recalling how He gave His life so that we might be forgiven. Gathered together with Christians from around the globe, this once-a-decade play is an unforgettable experience. (B/L/D)
Day 9: Monday, July 13, 2020: Meersburg
After a relaxed breakfast we will drive to Meersburg, then take the ferry across to the Island of Mainau, for a tour of the gardens. We will return to Meersburg and dine in our hotel or a local restaurant. (B/D)
Day 10: Tuesday, July 14, 2020: Meersburg, Stuttgart, Rothenburg
We will start with a tour of the Bible Museum in Meersburg, then drive to up Stuttgart and tour the Mercedes Benz Museum. We will continue on to Rothenburg and dine in our hotel this evening. (B/D)
Day 11: Wednesday, July 15, 2020: Rothenburg
Today we have a free day in Rothenburg to relax and enjoy the medieval atmosphere of this delightful town. We will join the Night Watchman Tour this evening. (B)
Day 12: Thursday, July 16, 2020: Eisenach, Erfurt
We leave early this morning and drive to Wartburg Castle. After the tour we will continue to Erfurt and check-in to the monastery. We will have a private service in the chapel (preferably this afternoon but could be Friday morning). The guide will take the group on an optional walk to see the floodlit cathedral after dinner. Day 13: Friday, July 17, 2020: Erfurt, Wittenberg
We will tour Erfurt this morning, then drive to Wittenberg. The evening will be at leisure. (B)
Day 14: Saturday, July 18, 2020: Wittenberg, Berlin
We will have a morning walking tour of Wittenberg, then end the day in Berlin. (B)
Day 15: Sunday, July 19, 2020: Return
We will leave this morning and drive to Berlin Airport for our flight home. (B)

Transfers are automatically included if we have booked your flights.
If you have booked your own flights, we can still provide transfers, as long as we have your flight details on file and a phone number to give to the driver. We will include your transfer information in your final packet. Transfers will be arranged for each arrival, so that you won’t have to wait for other tour members if their flight is delayed. Transfers can be arranged for the day of your choosing, but we can’t arrange transfers if you arrive or depart by train.
Please note that individual transfers are booked through a third-party and you will be responsible to communicate with the company in case of delays.

Option 1: We have reserved group air flights on Delta Airlines and they are currently $1,560 per person round-trip. We will continue to monitor options and will switch to another airline if we can get a lower rate. Payment is due with final payment in February 2020. The last day to sign up for group air is March 31, 2020. We will ticket flights by May 21, 2020.

Option 2: You may request a flight quote from us by filling out this form. Payment is due at the time of booking. Please note we are currently not purchasing any new flights, as airlines are so affected by the coronavirus.
Option 3: You may book your own flights, making sure you land on the afternoon of July 6, 2020 no later than 1:30 PM. If you would prefer to arrive earlier, we can arrange a pre-tour hotel night in Vienna. You are welcome to depart at any time on July 19. Please send us a copy of your flight itinerary for our records as soon as you have booked it.
Please note that if you would like to use air miles you will need to book directly with the airline.
We can arrange pre-tour nights in Vienna and post-tour nights in Berlin, but due to the volume of tours in 2020, we are not able to arrange additional travel within Europe.

We offer the Professional Plan offered by Roam Right Insurance, a division of Arch Insurance Company. We offer all of our travelers post-departure insurance coverage (up to $500 of coverage.) If you would like to have pre-tour cancellation and trip interruption coverage, the upgrade cost depends on the tour price. It’s approximately the tour cost (minus the $500 that we cover) x 6.14%. To insure your land costs, the price is $3,999 – $500 x 6.14% = $215. To insure your land and air costs, the price is $5,559 – $500 x 6.14% = $311. A quote will automatically be added to your invoice and updated once the air cost is available.

Regardless of reason, cancellations are costly. To offset these costs the following fees will apply, plus any non-recoverable expenses to our suppliers:
Oberammergau ticket deposits ($650) are non-refundable, but we will endeavor to find replacement travelers.
From time of deposit to until December 1, 2019: $350 cancellation penalty
From December 1, 2019 to 15 days prior to departure: $650 cancellation penalty plus any non refundable deposits
14 days or less prior to departure: No refund– Cancellation charges also apply to additional accommodation reserved prior to and after the tour.
– Cancellations must be received in writing by 5:00 p.m. central time on the last business day of the applicable time period.
– For flight changes or cancellations, revision fees and/or airline cancellation charges will apply.
– Roommates canceling can result in a single supplement charge for the roommate. The Participant who cancels will be responsible for that charge if a substitute roommate cannot be found.
– Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance is strongly recommended.
