Pre-tour Day 2: Friday, September 4, 2026: Arrival in Edinburgh
On arrival in Edinburgh, we will transfer to our hotel and meet our tour director. Touring can be arranged depending on arrival times. The afternoon is at leisure to explore Edinburgh. We will dine together this evening. (B/D)

Pre-tour Day 3: Saturday, September 5, 2026: St. Andrews, Edinburgh
St. Andrews has been a spiritual center in Scotland for centuries. During the Reformation, St. Andrews University was third in significance after Oxford and Cambridge. In the now ruined castle, we will see the Bottle Dungeon where George Wishart was imprisoned before being burned at the stake, and pause at his martyrdom site, also remembering fellow martyr Patrick Hamilton. St. Andrews Cathedral was once the largest church in Scotland, but fell into ruin after John Knox’s sermon, which was inspired by Wishart’s martyrdom. The tour will end with Holy Trinity, a 12th-century church which has been Presbyterian since 1689. We’ll have the opportunity to see the famous Old Course and the beach where Chariots of Fire was filmed. We will return to Edinburgh and the rest of the day is at leisure. (B)

Day 1: Saturday, September 5, 2026: Departure
We will depart from the USA today on our international flights to Edinburgh, Scotland. Pre-tour nights are available on request.  (IF)

Day 2: Sunday, September 6, 2026: Arrival, Edinburgh
Those on the pre-tour can join us for a morning church service in Edinburgh.  In the afternoon, our Reformation-themed walking tour will include St. Giles, the John Knox House, Greyfriar’s Church, Magdalen Chapel, and the Royal Mile. Our guide will tell us about the Reformation in Edinburgh: John Knox and the Covenanters. We will also tour Edinburgh Castle, including tiny St. Margaret’s Chapel, which dates back to the 1100s. We will dine together this evening. (B/D)

Day 3: Monday, September 7, 2026: Northumbria, Newcastle, Durham
On our way south, we will view Lindisfarne, known today as Holy Island, a tidal island off the Northumbrian coast. St. Aidan was sent here as a missionary from Iona and established a monastery in around 630 AD. Vikings destroyed the original monastery and monks fled from the island. We will visit the Northumbrian distillery, Ad Gefrin where will have time to browse the museum, have a light lunch, and an optional whiskey and gin tasting. We will have a medieval banquet in Blackfriar’s Restaurant in Newcastle, set in the 13^th century Dominican Friary. We will stay overnight in Durham. (B/L/D)

Day 4: Tuesday, September 8, 2026: Durham, York
We have the option to attend the 8:30 AM Morning Prayer in Durham Cathedral, followed by a group tour of the cathedral. In nearby Bishop Auckland, we will visit the Summer Palace of the bishops of Durham and tour the Faith Museum. We will continue on to York, where we will have an optional evening walk around the medieval streets. (B)

Day 5: Wednesday, September 9, 2026: York, Cambridge
Our local guide will take us on a walking tour of York, including the Medieval “Shambles”, and a walk on the ancient city walls. We will tour the Minster, which is the biggest medieval church in England and has an impressive collection of medieval stained glass, including a sixteenth-century rose window. Christianity has an early heritage in York. By 306, when Constantine the Great was proclaimed Emperor in York, it is believed there was a small Christian community. In 312, he issued a general edict of toleration for the Christian Church and York became a center of Christianity. We will continue on to Cambridge and dine together in a traditional pub. (B/D)

Day 6: Thursday, September 10, 2026: Cambridge
We will begin at Tyndale House, where we will hear about the legacy of William Tyndale with Bible translation and distribution. We will have a tour with a Christian historian from the Round Church. Cambridge is a center of Protestant scholarship for leaders, including Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, and Bishops Nicholas Ridley and Hugh Latimer. We will see Latimer’s Pulpit in The Church of St Edward, King and Martyr.  In Pembroke College we will see Ridley’s Walk and hear about martyrs who attended the college. During the Reformation, the White Horse Inn was a favored meeting place and we will see the plaque showing its location. The afternoon and evening are at leisure. (B)

Day 7: Friday, September 11, 2026: Bedford, Headington, Oxford
In Bedford and Elstow, we will learn more about John Bunyan, the author of Pilgrim’s Progress, the Christian allegory considered the most widespread book of all time, second only to the Bible. Originally a poor, barely literate Tinker (mended pots and pans), he became a popular preacher and author. Pilgrim’s Progress was written while he was imprisoned for 12 years for preaching without a license from the Church of England. Before we arrive in Oxford, we will view C. S. Lewis’ home, The Kilns, where he lived with his brother. We will also visit Holy Trinity Church nearby where the Lewis brothers worshipped for over 30 years. Inside the church, designed by the celebrated architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, we will see the Narnia Window. We will dine in Oxford, where we will stay for two nights. (B/D)

Day 8: Saturday, September 12, 2026: Oxford
Oxford is one of England’s famous university cities, with a rich history of reform. The early English reformer John Wycliffe was a professor at the university, and so was the famous Christian writer C.S. Lewis. Other well-known students included Bible translator William Tyndale and the great revivalist preacher George Whitefield, who was part of the “Holy Club” with Charles and John Wesley. In the afternoon, we can take an optional tour of the Cotswolds, visit Blenheim Palace, or spend more time in Oxford. The evening is at leisure. (B)

Day 9: Sunday, September 13, 2026: Reading, London
This morning, we will have the opportunity to attend the Morning Service at a traditional Anglican Church, followed by a delicious roast dinner at a country pub. We will drive to Hampton Court Palace, where James I commissioned the King James Version of the Bible during the Hampton Court Conference in 1604. We will continue to London and check into our hotel.  The evening is at leisure. (B/L)

Day 10: Monday, September 14, 2026: London
We will take an included tour of Westminster Abbey, then the rest of the day is at leisure. Options in the afternoon include a cruise down the Thames, followed by a tour of the Tower of London. Tickets for a West-End show can be arranged (extra cost). (B)

Day 11: Tuesday, September 15, 2026: London
We will start the day at John Wesley’s Chapel and the Museum of Methodism, followed by a tour of his home. John Wesley (1703-1791) has been called the most influential Protestant leader of the English-speaking world since the Reformation, and his brother Charles wrote hundreds of amazing hymns. We will tour the legendary Bunhill Field’s Cemetery, where we can see the burial place of nonconformist Protestants. We will arrive in Canterbury late morning. After free time for lunch, our tour of Canterbury will include the magnificent Cathedral, where we will hear about Thomas Becket’s murder in 1170 and see several royal tombs. We will return to London for our Farewell Dinner. (B/D)

Day 12: Wednesday, September 16, 2026: Return
We will have a group transfer to Heathrow for our return to the USA. Additional days in London or Europe can be arranged. (B/IF)

POST TOUR

Post-tour Day 1: Wednesday, September 16, 2026: Antrim, Omagh, Belfast
We will take an early flight from Heathrow to Derry then we will visit Giant’s Causeway, a unique geological site that attracts over a million visitors each year. The Ulster American Folk Park, near Omagh, is an award-winning open-air history center, where costumed actors and period buildings tell the story of Irish emigration. We will stay in the Grand Central Hotel, Belfast’s tallest building, with spectacular city views. (B/D)

Post-tour Day 2: Thursday, September 17, 2026: Belfast, Downpatrick, Dublin
This morning, we can choose between a self-guided visit to the Titanic Museum or a C.S. Lewis bus tour. Downpatrick is the heart of Saint Patrick’s story, and we will begin our visit at the Saint Patrick Centre, where interactive exhibits tell the true history of Ireland’s patron saint. It has an excellent cafe and gift shop. We’ll then visit Down Cathedral and Saint Patrick’s Grave, where we’ll learn about his impact on Irish Christianity and history. We will end the day in Dublin. The evening is at leisure. (B)

Post-tour Day 3: Friday, September 18, 2026: Dublin
The Epic Museum gives a wonderful overview of Irish history. Our guided walking tour will include Trinity College and the Book of Kells. We will also see St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Chester Beatty, and the 18th-century Georgian houses. Tonight, we will have a special farewell meal. (B/D)

Post-tour day 4: Saturday, September 19, 2026: Departure
After breakfast, we will transfer to Dublin Airport for our international flight home. As you leave, take with you the inspiration of C.S. Lewis’s imagination and Saint Patrick’s enduring legacy. (B/IF)

Arrival and Departure Transfers

Once the tour is a guaranteed departure our air team can assist you with booking flights and transfers. If you have booked your own flights, we can still provide transfers, as long as we have your flight details on file and a phone number to give to the driver. We will include your transfer information in your final packet. Transfers will be arranged for each arrival, so that you won’t have to wait for other tour members if their flight is delayed. Transfers can be arranged for the day of your choosing, but we can’t arrange transfers if you arrive or depart by train.

Please note that individual transfers are booked through a third-party and you will be responsible to communicate with the company in case of delays.

Your Tour Does Not Include

•   Single supplement ($1,500 for main tour, $450 for pre-tour, $300 for post-tour)
•   Any meals not identified in the itinerary
•   Items of a personal nature, such as passports and visas. Passports must be valid for 6 months beyond the return date.

Payment Schedule

•   The deposit of $350 per person is due at the time of booking through the registration system. As you register you will be given the option to pay by ACH (direct from your bank) or by credit card (3.5% fee). If you prefer, checks can be mailed to “Reformation Tours”, 12316 244th St, Chisago City, MN 55013-9688.
•   Final payment is due by June 5, 2026
•   Reservations will be accepted after June 5, 2026, subject to availability

Insurance

There are two levels of insurance offered. Click here to compare. When you fill out the registration form, you will be given quotes for both.

Standard is 4.55% of the trip cost and can be purchased up until 2 days prior to departure, although we recommend purchasing it before.

Enhanced is 7.6% of the trip cost and includes cancel for any reason benefits. It has to be purchased within 14 days of registration.

Cancellations

Regardless of reason, cancellations are costly, so we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance:

From time of deposit until May 25, 2026: $100 per person plus any non-refundable deposits
From May 26, 2026 to August 3, 2026: $350 per person, plus any non-refundable deposits
From August 4, 2026: No refund

Cancellations must be received in writing by 5:00 p.m. Central Time on the last business day of the applicable time period. For flight changes or cancellations, revision fees and/or airline cancellation charges will apply. Roommates canceling can result in a single supplement charge for the roommate. The Participant who cancels will be responsible for that charge if a substitute roommate cannot be found. Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance is strongly recommended. Reformation Tours cannot assume responsibility for any additional costs or fees relating to the issuance and/or cancellation of air tickets or other arrangements not made through Reformation Tours.
