“We invite you to join our exclusive Oberammergau Celebration Cruise. In order to have a time of fun and fellowship after the Passion Play, we have chartered a ship to sail from Passau to Budapest on the Danube. The MS Douce France has 54 cabins. The top deck has floor-to-ceiling windows and the main deck has large picture windows, so we’ll have a wonderful view. The price includes ALL excursions, a gala dinner with wine, and delicious French cuisine prepared by our on-board chef. We’ve also included free Wi-Fi, and all your tips and taxes.
We do hope that you’ll consider joining us.”
Here’s an update from our cruise company about their updated protocol in light of the coronavirus.

We will depart from the USA today. Flight bookings and pre-tour arrangements can be made through Reformation Tours. (IF)
Day 2: Tuesday, August 16, 2022: Munich
Welcome to Germany! On arrival in Munich, travelers will transfer to our hotel in Munich. The rest of the day will be at leisure, until our Welcome Meal, where we will meet all our fellow travelers. (B/D)
Day 3: Wednesday, August 17, 2022: Munich, Oberammergau
We’ll have a guided tour of Munich this morning, including the Cathedral, the Marienplatz, and the Old Town. We will end our day in our 4-star hotel in the Oberammergau area. The Passion Play Committee will confirm the hotel at the end of 2021. (B/D)
Day 4: Thursday, August 18, 2022: Oberammergau
We will transfer to Oberammergau this morning and have time to shop or explore locally on our own. We will eat lunch together before Part One of the Play, which begins at 1:30 PM. There is a break for dinner from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and we will dine together in a restaurant in Oberammergau. Part Two ends at 9:30 PM and then we will board our bus to return to our hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 5: Friday, August 19, 2022: Passau
After breakfast, we will travel to Passau and we’ll have some free time on our own in the city this afternoon. We definitely recommend visiting St. Stephen’s Cathedral, which houses one of the largest pipe-organs in the world. Known as the “City of Three Rivers” it is one of the most impressive sites along the Danube. The Old Town, created by Italian baroque masters in the 17th century, contains soaring towers, picturesque places, enchanting promenades and romantic lanes. We’ll board our ship at 6:00 PM and after comfortably settling into our cabins, we’ll meet our crew at a welcome cocktail before we cast off. We’ll have dinner and cruise through the night. (B/L/D)
Day 6: Saturday, August 20, 2022: Melk, Durnstein, Vienna
This morning’s included excursion is to Melk Abbey. Originally a Baroque-style palace built between 1702 and 1736, it is now a Benedictine monastery and hosts a prestigious coed school with more than 700 students. We’ll return to the ship and sail on to Dürnstein, where we will have time for some independent sightseeing. We’ll then cruise to Vienna, dining on the ship. After dinner we will have a special tour to see Vienna by night. Vienna symbolizes power and strength through its architecture and monuments. Street lights and special lighting accentuate shapes and dramatize the lovely baroque structures. (B/L/D)
Day 7: Sunday, August 21, 2022: Vienna
Our morning included excursion, is to the magnificent Schoenbrunn Palace, a former summer residence for the Hapsburg monarchs. The 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historical monuments in Austria. We will then visit the Konzerthaus Concert Hall, where the Vienna Symphony, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Wiener Singakadamie, and Klangforum Wien are in residence. We’ll have a back stage tour, followed by Viennese coffee and pastry. Back on the ship we will have our festive gala evening. (B/L/D)
Day 8: Monday, August 22, 2022: Bratislava
We’ll arrive in Bratislava in the early morning, and have a guided tour of Bratislava. The charm of the Slovakian capital lies in its old city which reveals magnificent baroque palaces, churches and pleasant squares. The pastel-colored façades give its many houses their unique style. In the afternoon we have the option of a gentle hike in the Little Carpathians Protected Landscape Area, including the geographically rich Sandberg expanse. The view from Devin Castle is amazing! (B/L/D)
Day 9: Tuesday, August 23, 2022: Budapest
Our final port is Budapest. In 1873, two distinct cities, Buda and Pest were united. Buda is on one side of the Danube, and has winding streets, Turkish baths and Buda Castle. On the other side of the Danube is the more modern Pest. We can choose between a walking tour, or a easy-paced bike tour. In the afternoon, we will visit the famous Gellert Baths. The current spa was founded in 1918, and a visit to the Art Nouveau thermal baths is a beautiful and historical experience. (Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit!). Our farewell evening will include traditional Hungarian entertainment in one of the city’s theaters. To the beat of lively Gypsy music, we’ll dive into the local folklore and learn about the country’s diverse traditions. (B/L/D)
Day 10: Wednesday, August 24, 2022: Return
We will transfer to Budapest Airport for flights home, or to continue our travels. Reformation Tours can assist with post-tour arrangements.(B)
