BREAKING NEWS – The Passion Play has been postponed until 2022. They are offering to transfer tickets to 2022 or a partial refund. We will be contact with each traveler to discuss options. In 2020, the Bavarian village of Oberammergau will once again perform the famous Passion Play, with thousands of visitors from all over the world. Passion Plays recount the life and ministry of Jesus Christ from the four gospels in a dramatic form. By watching a Passion Play we have a chance to reflect on the events most central to our faith, that Jesus died, was buried and rose again from the dead.
The producers of the 2020 play are Christian Stuckl and Abdullah Kenan Karaca. The conductor is are Markus Zwink. The designer is Stefan Hageneier. Click here to find out more about the the actors.
The Passion Play Theater was purpose-built, and is the largest open-air stage with a covered auditorium worldwide. It seats 4,500 people. All our seats are in Category 1 (the best seats), so you’ll have an excellent view.
